Q. What is Millstone CUE?

Millstone CUE is a service developed by CJ Group’s AI R&D Division that uses proprietary Vision AI technology to quickly and easily apply blur effects to specific people or objects in video content.

As a cloud-based service, it enables blur editing anytime with just an internet connection. What used to take 1–3 days can now be completed in under 6 hours thanks to its accuracy and processing speed.

Currently, only the AI-powered blur feature is available, but it will soon expand into an all-in-one editing service with the addition of inpainting capabilities and other AI-driven features.

Millstone CUE aims to foster a creative environment where anyone can produce content easily and where privacy is protected throughout the content ecosystem.

Millstone CUE is actively used across CJ Group’s content production, editing, and distribution workflows.

It’s especially used for blurring non-celebrities in K-pop content, masking non-sponsored brands in TV programs, and protecting personal data in a wide range of editing scenarios.

Millstone CUE uses a proprietary “Person ID Analysis” developed by CJ’s AI R&D Division, which goes beyond standard face recognition.

Traditional face recognition requires reference photos and struggles with changes like makeup or costume, but Millstone CUE can consistently recognize and blur the same person—even with visual changes—without extra images.

In scenes with many people, traditional tools often apply blur to the wrong individuals due to overlapping detection zones. Editors had to manually review and adjust these segments.

To solve this, Millstone CUE offers a person overlap prevention feature that detects and highlights overlapping areas. Users can then select the correct subject, and the AI ensures blur is applied only where needed.

This feature reduces editing time and ensures a more natural blur result.

Millstone CUE can blur not only people but also various objects within the video.
In addition to automatically detected objects, users can manually select or define areas that need blur and apply it as needed.

Rather than just applying a fixed blur, Millstone CUE tracks the object’s movement to ensure a smooth and natural blur effect.

A free trial plan is currently available, allowing users to upload sample videos or up to 30MB of footage per account to experience the blur feature.

Millstone CUE will soon offer tiered plans including a Basic plan for individual creators, a Pro plan for professionals, and a Business plan for enterprise use.

Millstone CUE currently focuses on AI-powered blur editing,
but it will soon expand with features like inpainting—which naturally removes selected subjects—
evolving into an all-in-one video AI platform that supports not only editing, but also content search and generation.
